Q: What can I engrave on the shifter body? Are there any limitations? A: We can cover the whole handle with engraving if that's what floats your boat and your budget is sufficient. If you can design it, burn it to a cd in jpeg format, there are no limitations. Realize a laser engraver cuts a V groove with its tip so the actual channel engraved will be wider at the top than at the bottom of the cut. With this in mind, I'd recommend simple and elegant over busy and gaudy. Q: What makes your shifter different than others on the market? A: Some shift handles are made from calcium carbonate (billiard ball material) others from cast aluminum, all great materials but they have some limitations when making complex shapes that are meant to be durable. KKM uses advance polymer resins in its manufacturing process, the same materials used the spacecraft and aerospace industries. Engineered durability and thermal stability are two of the distinct advantages to the KKM Bandit and Kowalski. Thermal Stability? Have you ever grabbed a billet shift handle that's been in a hot interior for an extended period of time? Ouch! Because our engineered resins have exceptional non-thermal conductivity on the hottest of summer days they will become warm at best. It goes for cold days too, they won't get freezing cold after long exposure. In a nutshell, I'd say those two make our handle different. Better? You bet! Q: Do I need special tools to install your product? A: An adjustable wrench, a pair of pliers (to remove the old handle). We supply a stainless steel jamb nut and a small tube of blue serviceable Loctite to apply to the mating threads. Pretty easy. If you order a Kowalski or a Bandit with the optional switches, you would receive instructions along with your order explaining switch function and hook up. Q: Why would I want a switch anyway? A: Nitrous Oxide priming switch, Methanol Injection, on the fly supercharger clutch drive pulley engagement. Hi beams. Engine Start Switch, Just about anything electrical you want to turn on and off. I've wired my Kowalski to a high pressure fluid pump pushing Methanol. Q: Will it fit my car? A: You tell us what you have and we make it for you. Q: How long will it take to receive my order? A: 2-3 Weeks for non-optioned non custom painted units, and 4-6 for one with all the bells and whistles. Q: I'm from across the pond, can I get a left hand version? A: YES for the Bandit and not till 2008 for the Kowalski. Q: I'd like to run one of these in my racecar. Do they catch fire and burn? A: I had mentioned aerospace and spacecraft earlier, both have specific FAA non-smoke, non-burn and non-heat release requirements. The very same self extinguishing additives are added to our advanced polymer blend. They will not sustain combustion, Period. |
